My business, my domain

We often talk about entrepreneurs and the Internet, but more often than not these are entrepreneurs who have decided to start a business that is Internet‑based by its very nature. What about those in traditional professions that existed before the Internet? In our autumn promotional and educational campaign, called My Business, my Domain, the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS) is using testimonials to present just such small companies, which have a successful online presence even though their business is not directly connected with the Internet. The aim of the campaign is to demonstrate the potential of the Internet for small, local companies, most of which are still not maximising their use of modern communication technologies. As well as testimonials, the campaign is using content marketing, producing educational content that highlights good practice in maintaining a web presence. During last spring, small business‑owners from Serbia, who are successful in their business but also in terms of their online presence, were first invited to apply for the Good Examples of Internet Presence competition, which RNIDS held to mark its 10th anniversary. Two women were chosen as finalists ‑ entrepreneurs who have taken advantage of the fact that websites targeting the local, Serbian market are given...

Changes for registrants of Serbian national internet domains

With the new General Terms and Conditions for national domain name registration, that are valid from 26th July, as well as the transfer to the new Domain name registration system "RSreg 2.0", there have also been some changes to the registration procedure affecting registrants. The RNIDS Foundation would therefore like to notify registrants of  .RS and .СРБ internet domains that from now on, their email address will be required not only in order to confirm the data on their registered domain name, but also for all the future contacts, regarding the changes of the domain name data.  The e‑mail address of the registrant and administrative contact is the item of information by which the registrant and the administrative contact are required to identify themselves to RNIDS and it is their obligation to maintain it in an active state and keep it updated throughout the registration period for the domain name. Also, the registrant has 20 days to confirm the registration and the domain name data. Should the registrant fail to confirm the registration and data within that deadline, the domain name will cease to be active until the registration and data are confirmed. Data on existing domain names can be looked up at prod.rnids.beeloc.rs/en/whois. DOWNLOAD: General terms and conditions for national domain name...

New RSreg ‑ new functions and greater domain registration security

On 26th July 2016, the RNIDS Foundation moved to a new Domain name registration system "RSreg 2.0" ‑  used for the registration of domain names in the country code top‑level domains .RS and .СРБ. The new RSreg software is the result of several years of development by local experts and has all the features that fit the requirements of modern registries.   During the handover to the new system, the registration of new domain names and the service for registered domains availability check (Whois), were temporarily offline ‑ from the morning of 26th July to the afternoon. There was no interruption to the operation of existing registered domains, and visitors to sites on the national internet domains haven't noticed the move to RSreg 2.0 at all. The new domain name registration system will provide additional support to RNIDS registrars and allow them to use the standard EPP protocol, also used in the registration of generic domains (.com and others). It will also allow the new General Terms and Conditions for the Registration of National Internet Domain Names to come into force. These terms emphasize the requirement to supply a correct e‑mail address for the registrant, which will now be compulsory for verifying data on a registered domain name.  The registration system is based on an advanced,...
